Glossary

Use this glossary to understand words shown across ScrinCloud and its public guides. Definitions describe product behavior from a user’s perspective. Availability can still depend on organization policy, plan, provider, environment, role, and the current item’s status.

For step-by-step work, follow the linked guide rather than using a definition as an operating instruction.

Account : Your individual ScrinCloud identity, including sign-in, password, verification methods, preferences, and active sessions.

Active : A status showing that an item is enabled and available for its intended product workflow.

Active session : A browser currently signed in to your account. Review and end sessions under Settings → Security.

Adoption : The deliberate decision to bring a discovered cloud resource into a governed ScrinCloud workspace. Discovery alone is not adoption.

AI assistance : Product guidance that can help draft or explain architecture and Terraform work. Deterministic validation, policy, approval, and user review remain authoritative.

Allocation : The portion of observed cloud cost assigned to a project, workspace, resource, owner, or other supported grouping.

Apply : The governed action that can make an approved Terraform plan change real infrastructure. A plan or approval is not an apply.

Approval : A recorded reviewer decision for the exact item and revision under review.

Approval gate : A requirement that must be satisfied before a governed action can continue, such as minimum reviewers or a named reviewer group.

Architecture : The resources, relationships, configuration, and boundaries that describe how a system is intended to work.

Architecture Studio : ScrinCloud’s visual workspace for adding, connecting, configuring, saving, and validating architecture resources.

Audit event : A time-ordered record of a material product action, actor, scope, outcome, and safe supporting context.

Authenticator app : An application that generates short-lived verification codes for two-factor authentication.

Available : A capability is present for the current role, plan, scope, environment, and item status.

Billing period : The time window used to group observed cost, such as the current month.

Budget rule : A Cloud Cost threshold used to warn or notify when tracked spend reaches a configured amount or condition.

Cancelled : A terminal status showing that work stopped before completion after a cancellation request or policy decision.

Canvas : The visual area in Architecture Studio where resources and their supported relationships are arranged.

Change : A proposed difference between the current reviewed state and the next intended state.

Check Design : A visible action that reviews an architecture against the product’s supported deterministic checks.

Cloud account connection : Approved, scoped access used by ScrinCloud cloud workflows. Product access and cloud authority remain separate.

Cloud Discovery : A read-only workflow that reviews supported cloud metadata within a selected provider, account, region, and service scope.

Cloud provider : The cloud platform selected for a project, workspace, resource, or connection, such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.

Code-managed resource : A resource represented in Terraform code but not necessarily managed through the current visual canvas.

Confidence : An indication of how strongly available cost or evidence supports the displayed result.

Connection health : The current result of ScrinCloud’s safe checks for a cloud or Git connection.

Cost estimate : A pre-deployment calculation based on a reviewed Terraform plan and supported pricing assumptions. It is not an invoice or observed spend.

Cost snapshot : A saved view of observed cost for a defined scope and period.

Current : The latest selected or authoritative item for the present workflow, such as the current revision, plan, or session.

Deferred : Work was accepted but is waiting for capacity or another safe condition before it can start.

Deployment : The controlled release of an approved change into an environment. Source or configuration alone does not prove deployment.

Diagram : A saved visual architecture containing resources, relationships, layout, and configuration.

Diagnosis : A ScrinOps review that uses eligible incident evidence to explain a likely problem and possible next steps.

Discovery Operations : The product area for reviewing discovery runs, supported and unsupported resources, adoption, management status, and drift workflows.

Drift : A difference between observed cloud state and the desired or recorded state used by a governed workspace.

Environment : A named operating stage or boundary, such as development, test, staging, or production.

Estimate : See Cost estimate.

Evidence : A bounded record used to support a finding, decision, approval, or result.

Evidence citation : A reference connecting a ScrinOps claim to the eligible evidence that supports it.

Exception : A time-bounded, reviewed allowance to proceed despite a policy finding. It does not remove the policy.

Expired : An item is no longer valid because its allowed time or freshness window ended.

Failed : A terminal status showing that an attempt did not complete successfully.

Finding : A specific validation, policy, security, cost, or operational result that needs review.

Formatting : Normalizing Terraform text into a consistent readable form without proving that it is valid or safe to apply.

Freshness : How recently observed data or evidence was collected relative to its expected update period.

Generated Terraform : Terraform files drafted from reviewed architecture intent. Generated files still require inspection, validation, policy checks, planning, and approval.

Git connection : An approved connection to a supported Git provider and owner used for repository-related workflows.

Governance : The policies, evidence, roles, reviews, approvals, and audit records that control how changes progress.

Guardrail : A rule or control that warns, blocks, or requires review for a change.

Health check : A product action that reviews whether a connection or capability is ready for its supported use.

History : Earlier revisions, runs, events, or results retained for comparison and accountability.

Identity verification : A step that confirms control of an account or enrolled verification method before a sensitive action.

Incident : A ScrinOps record representing a detected operational condition that may need review or diagnosis.

Invitation : A request for a person to join a project with a selected role. It remains pending until accepted or revoked.

Known cost : Cost that ScrinCloud can associate with supported pricing or observed billing evidence for the selected scope.

Least privilege : Giving a person or connection only the access needed for its approved responsibility.

Live Cost : ScrinCloud’s view of observed provider billing data, allocations, budgets, recommendations, and freshness for a configured workspace.

Managed resource : A discovered cloud resource deliberately adopted into a governed workspace for supported management workflows.

Manual workspace : A workspace that is not linked to a Git repository and is managed through the supported ScrinCloud editing and delivery flow.

Member : A person with an assigned role in an organization or project.

Notification : A product or email message about an action, state change, warning, approval, budget, or security event.

Not configured : A status showing that required setup has not yet been completed.

Observed state : The latest cloud or cost information collected for a selected scope.

Organization : The top-level ownership, membership, plan, and shared policy boundary in ScrinCloud.

Organization administrator : A role permitted to manage approved organization-level settings. It does not automatically replace project-specific review or provider authority.

Owner : The person or group accountable for a project, workspace, connection, policy, or other governed item.

Partial : A result where some selected scope completed and some remains incomplete or needs review.

Passkey : A device-backed sign-in method that can verify account access without entering a reusable password for that step.

Pending : An item is waiting for another action, confirmation, or state change.

Plan entitlement : A capability or limit available through the organization’s current ScrinCloud plan.

Policy : A defined rule that evaluates a change and records a pass, warning, block, or review requirement.

Policy exception : See Exception.

Policy pack : A reusable group of approved policies assigned to one or more governed scopes.

Project : The main home for one product, platform area, or infrastructure initiative, including its members and workspaces.

Provider connection : See Cloud account connection.

Queued : Work was accepted and is waiting to start. Monitor the existing item instead of submitting duplicates.

Read-only : Access that can inspect approved information but cannot make provider changes.

Recovery code : A sensitive, normally single-use code for account recovery or fresh verification when another enrolled method is unavailable.

Remediation proposal : A reviewed ScrinOps suggestion for addressing a diagnosed condition. It is not an automatic infrastructure change.

Request identifier : A browser-visible reference that helps support locate one product request without needing sensitive content.

Resource : A cloud component represented, discovered, estimated, governed, or managed by a supported ScrinCloud workflow.

Revision : A saved, identifiable version of diagram or Terraform content.

Reviewer : A person allowed to assess a defined change, finding, exception, or approval step.

Reviewer group : A reusable set of project members assigned a shared review responsibility.

Role : A named set of permissions for an organization or project responsibility.

Run : One tracked attempt to perform a workflow such as discovery, validation, Terraform planning, cost sync, or diagnosis.

Runtime evidence : An authorized product result showing what actually happened in a specific environment, including final state and required cleanup.

Save : Persist the current supported content as a revision. Saving does not validate, approve, plan, apply, or deploy it.

Scope : The boundary selected for an action, such as organization, project, workspace, environment, provider, account, region, or resource.

Session : A signed-in browser’s time-bounded access to your ScrinCloud account.

Share report : A time-limited public Cloud Cost view created for a selected stored snapshot and scope.

Simulation : A deterministic evaluation of expected architecture behavior, such as whether a supported network path should work.

Snapshot : A saved view of information at a particular time, used for review and comparison.

Source-ready : The implementation exists in reviewed source. This does not by itself prove release, deployment, or runtime behavior.

Stale : Data or evidence is older than its expected freshness window and should be refreshed before relying on it.

Status : The product’s current label for an item’s lifecycle or outcome.

Succeeded : A terminal status showing that the tracked workflow completed its defined work. Review its result before taking the next action.

Supported : The product recognizes the item for the named workflow and can apply its current approved behavior.

Sync : Refreshing selected information from an approved source into the current product view.

Team access : Project membership, roles, invitations, reviewer groups, and approval responsibilities.

Terraform : A declarative language and workflow for describing and reviewing infrastructure as code.

Terraform file : A file containing Terraform configuration, variable declarations, values, outputs, or supporting metadata.

Terraform plan : A proposed set of infrastructure changes produced for review before apply.

Terraform state : Sensitive data that records Terraform’s known relationship to managed infrastructure. Never include it in support requests.

Terraform workspace : ScrinCloud’s governed boundary for Terraform files, revisions, runs, evidence, settings, and delivery context.

Terminal status : A final lifecycle state such as succeeded, failed, cancelled, rejected, or timed out.

Timed out : A terminal status showing that completion was not confirmed within the allowed time.

Two-factor authentication : Sign-in protection requiring a second enrolled verification method in addition to the account password.

Unavailable : The capability cannot currently be used for the selected role, plan, scope, environment, connection, or item state.

Unallocated cost : Observed cost that cannot be assigned confidently to the selected grouping.

Unknown cost : Cost that ScrinCloud cannot estimate or classify confidently from the available supported information. Unknown does not mean zero.

Unsupported : The item was recognized but is not currently handled by the named ScrinCloud workflow. It should remain visible and separate.

Validate : Run deterministic checks against supported architecture or Terraform rules.

Validation finding : A specific result from deterministic checks, including severity, affected item, explanation, and safe next step.

Variable : A named input used by Terraform or environment configuration. Sensitive values require protected handling and must not appear in support material.

Verified : The product has completed the named identity, connection, or evidence check. Verification applies only to that check and time.

Viewer : A read-focused project role that can inspect approved content without broad edit or administration authority.

Watched resource : A resource selected for closer Cloud Cost tracking, budget, or notification attention.

Workspace : An environment-specific boundary for architecture, provider, Terraform, governance, and cost work inside a project.

Workspace lock : A visible control that prevents conflicting edits while a supported workspace change is in progress.

Workload identity federation : A connection method that uses short-lived identity trust instead of a reusable provider secret.

Not configured Complete the named setup
Pending or queued Wait for the accepted item
Deferred Work is safely waiting for capacity or another condition
Running Monitor the current item
Succeeded Review the completed result
Partial Review completed and incomplete scope separately
Failed Correct the stated cause before retrying
Cancelled or rejected The attempt ended without completing
Timed out Confirm final state before starting again
Expired or stale Refresh access or evidence
Unsupported or unknown Keep the uncertainty visible; do not assume success or zero impact
